The Film Peddler

A heartwarming story involving 70's exploitation? Yup.
This is one entertaining low budget documentary that revolves around several decades of John Shipp's life, but touches on the heyday of exploitation cinema, huge Midwest-based events like Show-a-rama, John's dealings with Roger Corman, etc. Ultimately a heartwarming story about John's personal life and what he settled down to do in Kansas City with Cinema Consultants and the many other projects he pioneered local to that area (including "Thank You Walt Disney"), "The Film Peddler" is a treasure trove of information about the independent film industry during the 70's, peppered with humorous (depending on your taste) recreations throughout, and tales of encounters with A-list Hollywood personalities, both funny and tragic. If you're a fan of exploitation 70's cinema, and if you've ever heard of John Shipp, you'll really enjoy this one! For a great review from a local film critic, check out: [...]

Who knew?
I wasn't aware of how the distribution side of film works, it was very interesting. And John Shipp is quite a character!

Great film for movie buffs!
Movies are everyone's favorite thing to talk about at the dinner table. This movie about John Shipp gave me a great amount of new information about how movies get to the theaters and how much fun it could be doing it.

I highly recommend The Film Peddler for anyone interested in the movie industry!
